Faith in Corrections Conference to be held April 13-14, 2007 in Nashville, TN:

Many services that offenders receive while incarcerated in Tennessee's Corrections system are provided by volunteers from a variety of non-profit and religious groups.  Their efforts can often make a real difference in how the offender transitions to their home community and how that community reacts to their return.

The Tennessee Community Resource Board, with support from the Tennessee Department of Corrections, is sponsoring the first of its kind conference aimed at empowering, energizing, and equipping volunteers with ways that can help lower the recidivism rate.  The conference also provides a statewide forum for encouraging volunteers by acknowledging their importance to the Department of Correction and to the thousands of families in our state. "Offenders typically need a combination of supervision and services if they are going to make a successful transition from prison to the community, their jobs, and their families. The Collaborative helps offenders to reintegrate themselves into Knoxville and protects everyone else in the process. It just makes sense for all of us to work together. To do otherwise is not worth the risk".
